U18 Girls Through to U18 National Cup Qtr-Final
November 13, 2015
A great weekend of basketball at Leixlip Amenities for the 2015 U18 National Cup qualifying round. East Cavan Eagles, Fr. Matthews, Glanmire, Killester, Moycullen and Liffey Celtics basketball clubs participated in the qualifying round, bringing lots of supporters and a great atmosphere to the Amenities. Some great games, especially in Pool 1, where Glanmire, Fr. Matthews and Moycullen providing three excellent exciting, skillful and hard fought games.
Celtics U18’s delivered four great performances getting the better of Killester and East Cavan Gaels on the Saturday, before going to taking a victory over a great Moycullen team in the semi-final on the Sunday morning. In the final at 3pm it was Liffey Celtics V Fr. Matthew, and despite a fighting performance from our girls, the Fr. Matthew girls were better on the day and went on to a deserved win. Congratulations to both sides who go through to the quarter-final stage. The Liffey Celtics girls will travel to play Portlaoise Panthers on the first weekend of December.
The girls are pictured in their new gear – kindly sponsored by Margaret Fortune.
Well done to the girls, Suzanne, Meagan and Margaret- and a big thank you to everybody who made the weekend work so well, including the parents who provided food and drinks, then event committee, the first-aid responders and all of our excellent table officials.
