Irene Says Goodbye And Thank You
May 1, 2014
Our Premier League player, Irene Sánchez, returned to Spain at the end of March having enthralled us with her skill, hard work and above all her friendliness and support. Before she left, she wrote the short note below to us all…….
What does success mean? Maybe for some players can mean winning the world cup or having a big, big salary…which I wouldn’t mind! Ha. But far away from this reality, I am lucky to fell that I am a successful basketball player! The basketball give me the opportunity to live in so many places, to meet lots of people and to enjoy other cultures. This season with Liffey Celtics couldn’t be different!
Liffey Celtics is a big family who loves basketball and only when you do things with love you have good results. The youth teams are full of children and also with great potencial as you can see in all the cup finals they won this year. About our team, Superleague, we didn’t get lots of victories but the effort accompanied by the improves mades the team to be together, the essence of any team sport.
I will never forget: Saturday morning coaching academy with forty girls around, the tea after each match with both teams and the referees, the first victory of the season and of course, each match at home with all the best supporters!
Thank you so much Liffey Celtics and specially my teammates, Vinny and my Irish mum, Mary, to made me feel closer to my home.
I love Liffey Celtics!
