Celtics U13’s and U14’s play at SheHoops

June 1, 2015

Liffey Celtics had a number of U13 and U14 players involved in the SHEHOOPS tournament this weekend in Belfast.  Kate Rochford, Carla O Dwyer, Ciara Mulleady , Fatimah Akorede and Karla Marytr represented Celtics on the U13 girls Dublin South team. They played Basketball Northern Ireland (BNI), Midlands and Dublin North having wins over BNI and the Midlands and losing out to Dublin North in the pool stages.  The girls lost out on score difference for a place in the final and went on to win the plate against the Midlands.  Well done to Kate Rochford who played in the All Star game, the U13 Dublin South team and coach Ken Maloney (Meteors).

Ciara Bracken and Ada Bowler also played in the SHEHOOPS tournament with the Dublin U14 team. This tournament was part of the teams preparations for the International Summer Slam tournament in Stirling, Scotland on June 12th to 14th.   Dublin played BNI Liberty, BNI Sparks and Paisley from Scotland.   The team ran out strong winners in all games including the final against Paisley. The tournament was a good opportunity for players and coaches to get to know each other better before their trip to Scotland.  Congratulations to Ciara who played in the All star game and we wish Ada, Ciara and all their team mates along with coaches Sean Ingle and Karen Hennessey, the best of luck in the Summer Slam.
